To help reduce our carbon footprint and dependency on plastics, all of our bars and food vendors will serve compostable cups and plates at Farr Festival. Here are ten suggestions to make your experience at Bygrave Woods even better.

Since its mass production began in the 1940s, plastic’s wide range of unique properties has propelled it to an essential status in society. More than two million tonnes of throwaway plastic bottles are sold each year, with only a small proportion made from recycled materials.

To put things into perspective Farr Festival 2017 amassed a total of 38 tonnes of rubbish, which is about five times as heavy as an Elephant. 98% of our waste from site gets recycled.

This year we want you to help us reduce that tonnage by doing the following:

  1. No need to print out your ticket, download it onto your phone here

  2. Bring a 'Bag For Life' and leave the plastic at home

  3. Wear bio-degradable glitter (available from The Mermaid Cave)

  4. Fresh clean water taps installed throughout the campsite

  5. Bring a reusable water bottle

  6. Get the train to Baldock and use our shuttle bus service

  7. Cut the cost of your journey and meet amazing people on the way by car-sharing

  8. Buy a good quality tent to keep, or rent boutique accommodation from Hotel Bell Tent

  9. Respect the woods and dispose of your rubbish in a bin

  10. Any left over tents and camping equipment to be donated to charity
